Airy Christian Day School Early Childhood Program
curriculum
is based on the philosophy that young children learn best
in an environment that affords them the opportunity to explore,
discover, and enjoy the learning process while engaging
in creative integrated hands-on learning activities that
encompass the needs of the whole child. Services are provided
in a nondiscriminatory manner, without regard to race, sex,
color, national origin, ancestry, religious creed, and disability.
PROGRAMS
OFFERED
Toddlers (30-36 months) – Learn about
their environment, how to share and play with others, and
how to make a smooth separation from parents. They will
be exposed to basic math, phonics, and biblical stories/principles.
Pre-School
(36-48) – Work on developing skills and concepts
such as cutting, tracing, coloring, and identifying of shapes.
They also learn to become more independent. They will be
exposed to basic math, phonics, and biblical stories/principles.
Kindergarten
1 (4 years of age by September 1) –
Engage in activities based on letters and sounds, Bible
stories, math concepts, and further development of fine
motor skills in preparation for Kindergarten 2.
Kindergarten
2 (Mandated Kindergarten Program – must
be 5 years of age by September 1) – the Kindergarten
fosters a feeling of love and reverence for God while providing
educational experiences designed to enhance the cognitive,
social and emotional development of children.

GENERAL
INFORMATION
Hours
Mt Airy Christian Day School is open from 6:30 AM
to 6:00 pm. School regular hours are 8:30
am to 3:00 pm for all students.
Extended care hours are 7:00 am to 8:30 am and 3:00 pm to
6:00 pm. Extended care is available and is included in the
tuition.
School
Calendar
Classes are scheduled from September to June. Most national
holidays are observed including the extended vacation during
Christmas and Easter. There are also several early dismissals,
Staff Professional Development days, and Parent Teacher
Conference days. You will receive a calendar with the dates.
Dress
Code
UNIFORMS ARE BACK! Due to the overwhelming
request from our parents the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
classes will be in uniforms in September. Our uniforms colors
are gray skirts and slacks, white shirts and blouses with
navy blue sweaters. Open-toe shoes are not permitted. All
students are asked to bring a change of clothes along with
an extra pair of RUBBER SOLE shoes to remain at the school
in the event of an emergency/accident.
Lunch
Each student is responsible for his/her own breakfast, lunch
and snack. The school DOES NOT provides meals. There is
no provision for students to have meals heated or refrigerated.
We encourage parents to pack healthy meals. Bottle sodas
and candy, are not permitted except for special events,
which must be approved by the Administrator.
